Boys, set the terror level at code brown, ’cause I need to change my pants.
I’m not a quack. I’m a mad scientist.
I think that Jello gave me a fake phone number.
Monsters vs. Aliens is stars “Reese Witherspoon” Susan Murphy, about to get to married to the love of her life when an unusual accident occurs. While walking around near the bridal chapel, a meteorite comes out of nowhere and lands right on top of her. Normally this would kill anybody, but this is no ordinary rock. It causes her to grow extraordinarily huge, and scares everyone instantly at the wedding. The U.S. government is quick to react to the incident, captures Susan, and locks her up in a secret military instillation. She is not the only one the government seems to be hiding from the public. After waking up from being hit with tranquilizers, she finds herself trapped in a large room. Where she meets other monsters being held captive there as well. Dr. Cockroach “Hugh Laurie”, a mad scientist who was accidentally transformed into a cockroach, B.O.B. “Seth Rogen”, a big brainless blob brought to life in a food experiment gone wrong, The Missing Link “Will Arnett”, an aquatic lizard man, and the larger than life mutant larvae Insectosaurus a beast like no other. They are the government’s secret weapon, for when things get out of control and regular military firepower just will not cut it. Susan does not have to wait long to be challenged in her new job, a power hungry alien Gallaxhar “Rainn Wilson” comes to attack earth and retrieve the meteorite that hit Susan. He knows the meteorite has extreme powers and also decides to try to conquer Earth as long as he is there. The President of the United States “Stephen Colbert” asks them to help him defeat Gallaxhar and protect the world. If they complete their mission, he will grant them permanent freedom as a reward.
I was so excited when I saw the previews for this film. Thinking to myself this is going to be the best cartoon to hit the screen in some time. Disney has hardly ever let me down with their movies, but here is an exception. With the cast they had I thought they could do no wrong. Especially with Seth Rogen, although I do not think they let him be himself or add any of his own comic genius to the film. With these characters it could have been much more of a gut buster and it just never delivered what I was expecting.
Fun to watch in 3D ,but still a rather typical flat comedy . Compared to other film in the past Disney has done, it is almost seems they rustled the film to theaters. They should have added more jokes for kids and adults. It will make its money for the lack of children’s movies in theaters right now. I feel a bit let down. I was expecting a movie that would make me laugh more then Bolt or Madagascar. The only thing that was not flat was my soda sitting next to me. Wait until it comes out on video and save your money if you can, unless the kids are begging ya to take them to the show. They still will enjoy it, you just might be bored sitting there like I was.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is the latest sequel to the original first film Madagascar. The penguins have found a way with help from the other animals, to repair the plane and make a trip back to New York. However, the penguins are not the best airplane mechanics . The plane has to make an emergency landing and not to far from where they started . That is right, they crash land in Africa . Alex the Lion and all his friends discover the fact that they are not the only Lion,Hippo, Zebra and Giraffe around, in Africa and learn about the life they have missed being in the New York Zoo. In the meantime, the penguins get back to square one, with their hilarious antics and jokes; start to get back to work on repairing the airplane, still trying to make that final voyage home, along with the help of the aristocratic monkeys. They soon stumble upon an oasis, not far from where they crash landed . In spite of all the beauty that surrounds them in Africa; Alex the Lion is reunited with his long lost parents that he can barely remember. Alex learns what it takes to be a Lion out of New York city and tries to live up to his father’s expectations.
The sequel to Madagascar was about the same , well a touch more adult humor than the first one. I enjoyed it thoroughly but, the only wish I had was that they did another “Move it, Move it.” dance scene. The only real chance they give you is in the ending credits, which was horribly interrupted by an usher, telling us how to exit the theater. Still my favorite character that makes me laugh the most is King Julien, the crazy lemur they met in Madagascar. Don’t get me wrong the penguins are funny but, every time that crazy acting lemur jumps onto the scene, I always end up laughing. Maybe, its just because he always thinks he is in control of the situation and everyone around him. Although I have never been a fan of sequels this movie meets my expectations for a continuation of Madagascar. A whole list of well known actors doing the voices, it is one of Bernie Mac’s last works by the way. Without a doubt, this a great film for the whole family and everyone will enjoy it. Lastly, we will all have to wait for Madagascar 3, which will come out, years from now, with a release date of 2011. Hopefully they can make it to New York next time.
