LONDON – The internet movie database has launched a service that allows users to watch full-length films and popular TV episodes on its website for free.

Visitors to the popular Amazon-owned site will be able to watch hit TV shows such as ‘Family Guy’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘The Office’ as well as viewing the first episodes of new and returning shows and TV classics such as ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Bewitched’.

IMDb is also opening its site to filmmakers and rights owners worldwide by allowing them to upload their films on to the site.

Col Needham, managing director of IMDb.com, said: “We’re excited to offer our users a simple online experience. Our goal is to show our users every movie and TV show on the internet for free on IMDb.com.”

IMDb is the web’s most comprehensive source of information on movies and television shows. The site is designed specifically for entertainment industry professionals, enabling actors and crew members to promote themselves directly to IMDb’s audience.

For web surfers it is probably best known as the arbiter of many film and TV trivia questions the answers to which can be found in the site’s comprehensive film and TV credits.

This is definitely quite interesting. It looks like it’s mostly a bunch of clips of TV episodes, but there are definitely some full episodes. As well, there are several movies available to watch.

I recommend keeping your eye on this. I’m sure they will have LOTS more movies/TV episodes for your FREE viewing pleasure =).
